At the end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004 our school got in touch with the High School INSTITUTO D’INSTRUZIONE SUPERIORE “POLO ROMANI” in Casalmaggiore, the area of Cremona. During the period of time pupils, teachers and headmasters of the schools communicated regularly. The cooperative project was agreed upon, prepared and realized during our pupils’ stay in Italy.
In the spring of 2005, from April 23 to April 30, 25 pupils and 5 teachers with the headmaster visited their friends and colleagues in Casalmaggiore. Our pupils performed the parts of the play “Midsummer’s Night Dream” by Williame Shakespeare in Serbian, Italian and English in the local theatre. They also presented the folklore and costumes of our country, they had sports matches with their friends from Italy, and they showed their knowledge and abilities together during the “Creativity Day” manifestation.
The pupils attended classes there and exchanged their experience. The teachers of the two schools discussed similarities and differencies between the school systems of the two countries.
To get acquainted with the host country better, our teachers and pupils visited Verona, Parma, Sirmione, Sabbioneta and many other cultural and historical sights.
Our Italian friends visited Serbia and Loznica from April 3 to April 9, 2006. Our guests got familiar with Loznica and its surroundings, Trsic, the Tronosa Monastery, Soko Grad, as well as Belgrade , the Hopovo Monastery, Sremski Karlovci, Petrovaradin and Novi Sad . They attended classes and enjoyed other entertainment facilities in Loznica.
During both visits pupils were the guests of their friends’ families. The programmes our pupils prepared and performed in Italy impressed our hosts a lot and they gained a high opinion not only about our school, but also about the whole town. Tight connections have been established between the two schools. As a result of this, came the visit of the Mayor of Casalmaggiore, Dr. Luciano Toscani to the Mayor of Loznica, as well as the return visit of the delegation from Loznica during the November of 2006 during which the two towns became very close friends.
