"Write
as you speak, and read like it is written"
He was born in Trsic, village near
Loznica, in 1787. From a shepherd, self-taught Vuk
Kraradzic became central character in Serbian literature
in the first half XIX century. He reformed Serbian
language, became creator of one of the most prefect
alphabets, the First Serbian Grammar, Dictionary,
Autobiography, and he gained the victory of the national
language.

Vuk was collecting, writing and publishing
national oral and written literature and succeed in
showing the world its beauty. At the same time he
became the best writer and linguist, social literary
critic, ethnographer and first new Serbian historian.
In
November 1985 the General confederation UNESKO
made a resolution by which the 200 years from Vuk
Karadzic's birth were announced as an important world's
anniversary.

The school was founded in 1871. In the first school
year there were 27 pupils. In 1889 it was raised to
the level of a lower grammar school by opening the third
form and two years later the fourth form was opened.
On July 9th , 1896 the school was closed by the King
Aleksandar Obrenovic’s decret and it was opened
again 1912.

the begining of the First World War it stopped working
again. At the begining of 1919 the school reopened with
the fifth form for the first time. From 1921-1929 it had
six forms, but was closed again becose it didn’t
meet the criteria of the educational authorities.--more>> |
